Bariatric surgery is a powerful tool in itself for weight loss. <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

However, as the medical literature shows, it is important to have a community component that helps patients achieve their desired weight and maintain it long-term.<\/p>

Participation in support group activities can improve the outcomes achieved by post-op bariatric patients, including increased quality of life, reduced emotional distress, consistency in follow-up appointments, and a lower risk of returning to the unhealthy habits that led to obesity in the first place.<\/p>

That's why IB patients have the support group led by Lic. Dayana Rodr\u00edguez of @GorditaFitRD as part of their post-surgical care, regardless of how many years have passed since their bariatric surgery.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

What is the Support Group?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

It is a safe virtual space where Dr. Betances' patients will have the freedom to share experiences with their peers, learn from the Bariatric Institute's medical team, and maintain focus and motivation through accountability and participation in group activities.<\/p>
